Band Bios and set lists

Reed Scott ( Slim ) ~ ( Guitars, vocals ) After playing drums for many bands over the years Hambone Slim decided it was time to go back to his original love, the guitar. He loves the blues and American roots music so it was a natural that he would pursue that genre. His first band was in 1965 doing Stones and Beatles tunes ( like so many others at that time ) He started as a guitarist and lead singer but found out how hard it was to find a good drummer...so he decided to play the drums instead. But his heart was always with singing and playing guitar.

Growing up listening to the American Roots greats like Hank Williams, B.B. King, Willie Nelson, Roy Orbison, Ray Charles, Motown and Stax and all the great Muscle Shoals artists, along with the British artists like Peter Green, The Beatles, The Stones, Joe Cocker, Van Morrison, Eric Burden and so many others.. he gravitated to bands like The Paul Butterfield Blues Band and James Cotton and Muddy Waters out of the Chicago music scene. Taj Mahal, Keb Mo, J.J. Cale, John Hiatt, Bob Dylan, John Prine remain a huge influence.

Reed brings all of these genres alive at  his shows... done in his own musical style..always with a reverence and respect for their music. Every one of his shows are a loving embrace of the music that came before and a walk through the influence American Roots music has all over the world.

Harris Taylor ~ ( Lead Guitar, Slide Guitar, Vocals ) brings a wonderful mix of Nashville and big city to his playing. He has many years of performing under his belt and can play many genres. His style is sweet, tangy, twangy, but also smooth and silky when needed. He is the perfect lead guitarist for this band.

Harris brings a sense of humor and playfulness to his performances. He is always looking to add that quintessential lick that makes the tune a memorable one for our audiences.

Harris is the perfect Lead Guitarist for this band. He will always leave you feeling good and wanting more!

Mike ( Bone )  Yourkvitch ~ ( Bass Guitars )

At 10 years of age he started to play guitar..leading him to the bass guitar at 19. He loved the sounds of funk, R&B and Blues at an early age so pursued those genres and to this day is one of the top funk/blues/soul bass players in the region. He has performed live for many years and his influences are Earth Wind and Fire...AWB...Tower of Power and Stevie Ray...

As Mike like to say  " It's all about that bass "  and we are very fortunate to have his talent and presence in this band!!

Dave ( Playing Mantis ) Finberg  ( Keyboards )

Dave experienced the Beatles on The Ed Sullivan Show and knew he was going to be a musician! His life has been, and continues to be, an exploration of musical instruments including: piano, guitars, bass, and drums. He is self taught and uses his musical ear to guide him by listening to the music around him. This approach lets him absorb and understand the vibrations and to be able to play what fits the music naturally.

He love all music.. classical, blues, jazz, bluegrass, progressive, electronic, funk, rock, etc.. Influences are: Beatles, Stones, the Who, CSNY, Traffic, Jimmy Smith, YES, Genesis, but most of all he loves the music of The Grateful Dead.

The Blues Dues is honored to have him!

 Jim Becker ~ Drums

Jim is a regional institution ...he has been music teacher for years and has played with some of the best musicians in the region. You may have met him or seen him at your local Guitar Center as one of their teachers.

His chops are legendary. Pocket groove master and innovative musical ear is perfect for what we do and we are very fortunate to have him!
